The Bespoke Tailors’ Guild

Tailoring is such a great skill to have! From making clothes for yourself and others, to mending, altering, home deco and so much more. Based on your availability and what you’d like to learn, we have two options for you:

Tailoring Classes.

R250 per hour, you select the hours that work for you

Mondays to Saturdays.

Students select a garment or project to focus on, and are guided through design, patterning, fitting and finishing, depending on what you would like to focus on. All skill levels are welcome! We will decide on a project that is relevant to you, and structure the lessons accordingly. My expertise is in men’s formal wear, specifically suit jackets with a hand-made floating canvas. However I have a lot of experience in all types of women’s wear, home deco and alterations. If you’d like to see my work you can head over to my Gallery, or my Instagram Page.

Beginner sewers usually start with cushion covers and tote bags. Intermediate sewers can work on a number of projects from skirts and shorts to shirts. Advanced sewers can tackle anything from corsetry to bespoke suits and more.

Classes are R250 per hour, and you will select the hours that suit you. You can contact me on 073 345 1779 or benjaminsaccaggi@gmail.com to arrange your times, and the project you are interested to work on.

Tailoring Apprenticeship

Weekdays

Bespoke tailoring is best learnt through apprenticeship, as an assistant to a professional tailor. The Green Tailor offers unrivalled tailoring and service, and we’re happy to have interns assist us with this service. Interns or apprentices can start at any skill level, and will be taught on the job according to the needs of the business.

Interns are sponsored by our supporters on Patreon, and are our sustainability officers. You will assist in the many sustainable initiatives of the business, particularly our zero waste projects.

The internship days and duration varies according to each individual. Please contact me on 073 345 1779 or benjaminsaccaggi@gmail.com to arrange for an interview.

YouTube

For those unable to attend in-person classes, my YouTube Channel documents our work in the studio, and gives instructions on a wide range of projects.

My name is Benjamin Saccaggi, and I am the owner of The Green Tailor and the instructor for these classes. I began sewing at a young age, and in 2014 decided to make tailoring my career. Since then I have focused on bespoke suits and men’s formal wear, though I also have a lot of experience and skill in women’s couture, home deco and alterations. In 2023 I travelled to Germany for an advanced course in bespoke suits at the Akademie der Kleidermacher.

You can get in touch via email (benjaminsaccaggi@gmail.com) or watsapp (073 345 1779) with any questions you may have, and to book your class.

  2. I’m aspired to design my own garments and so I need to take classes as a beginner , I went to search on Google for what could be the best institute and also affordable one , I can’t deny that it is the Green Tailor that caught my eyes , and interestingly enough there is apprenticeship , I’m going to apply for it , I really wish to learn, work and grow as I’d quoted.
