Training in Bespoke Suits at The Green Tailor
Learn the timeless art of garment construction inside a working studio in Pretoria East.
My name is Benjamin Saccaggi. I bean sewing at a young age and made tailoring my profession in 2014. in 2023 I travelled to Germany for advanced training in bespoke suits construction at the Akademie der Kleidermacher. There I refined my understanding of the floating canvas, sustainable fashion practices, and traditional European tailoring methods.
Today I operate The Green Tailor atelier, specializing in men’s formal wear, particularly fully canvassed suits jackets. We also make a wide range of men’s and women’s custom garments, and offer an excellent alterations service covering a dizzying array.
These tailoring skills are for beginners and advanced students who want a strong technical foundation, especially those aspiring to make excellent suits and timeless fashion.
Personalised Tailoring Classes.
R250 per hour. Flexible scheduling, Monday to Sunday (slots available between 10am and 7pm)
Lessons are at The Green Tailor Studio. Remote classes available via video call.
Students select a garment or project to focus on, and are guided through the all aspects of tailoring that they are interested in. These include design, patterning, fitting, finishing, marketing and business strategy, depending on your objectives.
My expertise is in men’s formal wear, specifically suit jackets with a hand-made floating canvas. However I have a lot of experience in all types of women’s wear, home deco and alterations. If you’d like to see my work you can head over to my Gallery or my Instagram Page.
Monthly workshops
R500 – 3 hours. One Saturday a month, 10am to 1pm
Group workshops focus on specific topics throughout the year. Sewing machine maintenance, pattern drafting, hand-stitching techniques and more.
