In Europe the vintage industry is thriving, owing to the high quality of garments made to withstand harsh climates.
Inevitably many of garments circulate too long and drop below a certain price point for retail. Often this happens after one or two alterations, making them too individualized for retail.
At this stage they’re still in pretty good condition however, and are sold in bales to southern countries like South Africa.
Here the garments are sold by franchise importers, and resold to the public by retailors.
And of course I couldn’t help but get addicted to this amazing opportunity to see so many different construction techniques.
We retail these jackets at the Studio, and will of course do any alterations you’d like.
Retailing the vintage jackets has been a fun experience for me, discovering many methods of tailoring I haven’t been exposed to before.
And I’ve never fallen in love with global brands quite as much as I have since being able to access them financially. You can pick up a Kiton jacket for around R500!!
